Loose-fill insulation is typically made from recycled glass, paper, or other industrial waste, so it is an environmentally friendly option as well.
- Spray Foam - One of the most effective but also most expensive types of insulation, spray foam can be used just about anywhere. It is sprayed into place much like loose-fill insulation, so it can be used in new or existing walls, tight spaces, and around plumbing and electrical lines.
- Reflective Insulation - While most insulation is designed to absorb heat or prevent its movement, reflective insulation does exactly what its name suggests - it reflects heat from the sun away from the building. It is most commonly used in attics in warm climates, but does have its uses in cooler climates as well.
- Foam Board - Usually reserved for unfinished walls, foam board comes in panels that can be cut to fit your needs. Though not as effective as other types of insulation, it is perfect for basements, shop buildings, and other such locations where you do not want to go to the expense of finishing the walls to hide other types of insulation.
